Overview

Youda Games’ original Flash Governor of Poker combines Texas Hold’em with buying property and travelling between towns. Its tasks and story differ from Governor of Poker 2 and the later online games.

Texas Hold’em uses your two hole cards and the community cards to make the best five-card hand. On your turn, you can call, raise, check or fold when those actions are available. Read the board and your opponents’ bets as well as your own cards.

Your journey begins in San Saba. Win at poker and build your reputation to work toward buying property and transport, then travel to other towns. Computer opponents have gestures and expressions you can watch alongside their bets, but one tell does not guarantee what they are holding.

In tournaments, watch your remaining chips and position. At cash tables, focus on how much you win or lose at the table. The original Flash demo and the full commercial game offer different sets of towns.

Controls

Mouse
In the original Flash edition, select the displayed poker action with the mouse. Fold leaves the hand; Call matches the current bet; Check continues without adding a bet when allowed; Raise increases it. The table indicates available actions and chip costs.

Before you play

  • Check the table type and entry requirements before joining. Watch your position and remaining chips in a tournament, and your gains and losses at a cash table.
  • Reassess the board as community cards appear. Your two cards alone do not reveal possible flushes or straights for an opponent.
  • Read a character’s gestures alongside bet size instead of treating one animation as certain evidence of a bluff.
  • Keep track of your cash after buying property. If funds run low, sell a house or advance to the next day to collect rent. House keys can also be wagered at cash tables, so check what is at stake before calling.

Known limitations

  • The game text is in English.
