Overview
Developed by ODIN, the second single-player game originally appeared in 1999. You build a faction, recruit officers and take cities in the Three Kingdoms setting. Its systems differ from the separate online game and later entries.
Domestic affairs take place each January. Cities collect taxes, while population affects income and reserve capacity. A productive base gives an advancing army a more dependable source of replacements.
Search orders can uncover officers, weapons, horses, troop tokens and other items. Assign useful equipment to officers before marching. As your territory grows, autonomous administration can help manage searches and development.
Hostile forces meeting on a road, or an army entering an enemy city, trigger combat. After victory, decide whether to recruit or release prisoners. The browser edition uses a Windows environment and Chinese title menus.
Cheat Codes
Original Windows PC v1.05 cheats
After entering the game, type D, A, L, L to enable cheat mode, then use these keys on the campaign map.
- F3: add 10,000 gold to every city.
- F4: refill city troop reserves.
- F6: raise your officers by one level.
- F5: raise officers on both sides by one level; its scope differs from F6.
Controls
- New or continuing game
- At the Chinese title menu, choose 开始游戏 to start a new game or 继续游戏 to continue existing progress.
Before you play
- Distribute equipment found through searches before deploying officers; an unused weapon in storage does not help an army.
- Plan for battles along roads as well as at the destination. An army may spend resources before it reaches an enemy city.
- Keep some officers at home for domestic affairs, searches and supply instead of sending everyone on a march.
- After expansion, organize the captured cities and prisoners before another long offensive. Territory alone does not replace a working supply base.
