Overview

WOW New Fantasia is Comad’s 2002 entry in the Fantasia series, using Qix-style line-drawing and area capture.

The round’s area goal is to uncover 80% of the target image before time expires while avoiding enemies. Balance territory gained against exposure rather than choosing a long route solely for its size.

A pointer above the playfield changes with time and the regions uncovered, affecting the displayed image state. Reaching the area target in an unsuitable state can require repeating the round.

Character selection includes several regional themes, and arcade variants differ in image content.

Controls

Mouse: player entry
Starting the game in the player opens an age check. Players aged 18 or over must enter their own real date of birth.
Original cabinet: directional stick and action buttons
The original cabinet uses a four-way joystick and two action buttons.

Before you play

  • Start with short routes that are easy to close. Watch approaching enemies before committing to a larger enclosure.
  • Near the 80% goal, keep checking the pointer and image state as well as the area total; area alone may not complete the round.
  • As the timer falls, avoid unnecessary detours. Plan the start, end and safe boundary of the next enclosure before leaving cover.

Known limitations

  • The original includes adult imagery. The player requires an age-18 birth-date confirmation before launch.

FAQ

Is WOW New Fantasia the same release as New Fantasia?

WOW New Fantasia is Comad’s 2002 game. New Fantasia has separate 1994 and 1995 versions.

Does reaching 80% always clear a round?

Area is one goal, but the image-state pointer also matters. Finishing in an unsuitable image state can require repeating the round.

Why does the player ask for my age?

The original contains adult imagery. The player requires users to be at least 18 and to enter their own real birth date.
