Overview

Mario moves around circular tower floors, stuns Koopa enemies, and throws their shells to defeat other targets. Pipes move him between the front and rear planes of a stage.

Enemy rules matter more than rapid attacks. Some targets must be hit from the opposite plane, while fire and ice hazards are meant to be avoided rather than collected.

Controls

W / A / S / D
Use the one directional pad exposed by the browser player
J (emulated B)
Jump in the original control scheme
K (emulated A)
Throw a carried shell in the direction Mario faces
Shift
Use Select when supported
Enter
Start or pause

Before you play

  • Stun a Koopa before approaching it. The shell becomes ammunition only after the enemy has been knocked down.
  • Watch which depth plane an enemy occupies. A shell thrown straight across the tower can hit a target on the opposite plane.
  • Do not assume every moving object is a target. Fire and ice hazards are obstacles, so preserving a safe lane is often better than chasing a score.

Known limitations

  • The original manual uses a second directional pad for directional shell throws and L or R for run and jump. Those inputs are not exposed in the current keyboard panel, so complete keyboard play is not confirmed.
