Game Rerun guide

Overview

This browser edition runs on EaglercraftX, a third-party port of the older Minecraft Java game. It is based on Java 1.8.8, released in 2015.

Start Survival by gathering wood and turning logs into planks. Four planks make a crafting table. Your inventory has a 2×2 crafting grid; place the table to use a 3×3 grid and make tools for gathering materials and preparing a shelter.

Single-player worlds are stored in the current browser. You can export a world as an EPK save file to keep a backup or import it on another device.

The game differs from current Java and Bedrock editions. Look for recipes, maps and commands that work with Java 1.8.8. You still need an internet connection to open this site and load the game for the first time.

Cheat Codes

Change game mode and time of day (Java 1.8.8)

Use these commands in a single-player world that allows cheats. Press T to open chat, type one of the commands below and press Enter.

  • /gamemode creative: switch to Creative mode.
  • /gamemode survival: return to Survival mode.
  • /time set day: set daytime.
  • /time set night: set nighttime.

Controls

W/A/S/D, Space
The original game uses W/A/S/D to move and Space to jump by default. If you have changed the keys, check Options → Controls for your current settings.
Mouse, E
With the original default controls, left click attacks and holding it breaks blocks. Right click uses or places the item you are holding, and E opens your inventory. The action depends on the item and what you point at.

Before you play

  • Keep your first wood for a crafting table and a wooden pickaxe before spending all your planks on decoration.
  • Prepare a shelter before exploring far from home, and leave recognizable markers along the way so you can find your way back.
  • Before clearing browser data or switching browsers or devices, export the world as an EPK file and keep it somewhere safe.

Known limitations

  • Worlds are stored in the current browser. Clearing site data can also erase your saves, so export a backup first.

FAQ

Which version of Minecraft is this?

It is a third-party browser edition made with EaglercraftX, based on Minecraft Java 1.8.8. It has the gathering, crafting and building of that older release, so check the version when following a guide.

Why does an Offline Edition need an internet connection?

The website and game files need to load over the internet first. Single-player worlds are stored in your browser; the name Offline Edition does not mean this site can be opened without a connection.

How do I back up a world or move it to another device?

Export an EPK save file from the game and import it on the other device. ZIP files also let you exchange worlds with the original Java 1.8 game. The exported ZIP world does not keep other shared-world players’ inventories, and pets may no longer recognize their owners. Keep an EPK backup before converting.

How do I make my first crafting table?

Turn a log into planks, then fill the 2×2 crafting grid in your inventory with four planks. Place the table and use it to open a 3×3 grid for making more tools.

What do I need to use the game-mode and time commands?

Your single-player world must allow cheats to use the commands listed here. On a server, you also need the appropriate command permissions.
